A bit about the role

Lynk is a platform which aims to prepare informal workers to thrive in the labour market. We do this by:


  • understanding market demand;

  • structuring our offering better to service the demand;

  • recruitment, training and equipping informal workers to satisfy that demand;

  • providing a convenient tech-driven method of connecting to that demand;

  • quality service delivery and outstanding customer service;

  • and driving demand through marketing.


As a Business Strategy Consultant for Commercial Cleaning, you are responsible for steering the development and growth of Lynk’s new Cleaning Segment for Commercial Services. You will lead an independent ‘task-force’ of consultants and coordinate internal stakeholders on Lynk’s B2B team to ensure that the framework and procedures for Lynk’s new offering aligns with all elements of our business. Supported by a Segment Lead who will coordinate activities between the Cleaning and the Care Segment, your analysis, findings and recommendations will drive all activities for the implementation and growth of commercial cleaning services for our businesses across Nairobi.

You are able to balance strategy, operations, and marketing activities easily and can manage teams in the context of uncertainty. In addition to working well with people and seamlessness networking, you learn fast, are flexible, have the ability to analyze data quickly and efficiently and have a hunger to translate complex ideas.


Specific responsibilities


Market analysis 

  • Through secondary research and primary engagement with existing and future business clients, you will determine how big demand is for commercial cleaning, determine which offerings have the greatest demand, and identify what clients are willing to pay for services in this market. 

  • Engage with Lynk for Business (LFB) team members to understand the parameters of their clients needs including the prices, quantities, quality and structures required for their clients.

  • Conduct follow-up conversations with business clients to understand how to improve the offering.


Strategy development

  • Develop and implementation of new policies, processes and procedures for the new offerings.

  • Ensure products and strategies are consistent with Lynk’s vision and commoditization structures.

  • Create a comprehensive product strategy that provides recommendations for how and what offerings (present and future) the organization should implement.

  • Develop clear procedures to appraise new product ideas and/or product changes.

Segment structuring

  • Develop a range plan of services offered in target categories, including pricing and service structure.

  • Ensure that segment offers are adequately structured across B2B clients.

  • Collaborate with tech team to incorporate these offerings into Lynk Request system.


Operational set-up

  • Business development: support the B2B and Projects team develop materials and pitch our services to potential and existing clients clients .

  • Sales & Marketing: developing sales goals for the segment in line with the new model, identify methods for marketing individual categories to B2B audiences, collaborate with the marketing team to grow the segment as well as the LFB and project team to increase demand for services with B2B clients 

  • Tools & supply chain partners: Identify opportunities to collaborate with tool or material suppliers to provide Pros with better tools for success. Where appropriate, identify supply chain partners to smoothen service delivery within the segment.

  • Training: Provide oversight and technical support to the development of category specific and market driven training curricula for the new categories. 

  • Support Segment Leads in designing and formalizing the trainings.

Service delivery

  • Develop procedures to service and deal with individual B2B requests and issues 

  • Oversee regular delivery of quality checklists and customer feedback surveys

  • Lead constant improvements of customer service processes

  • Consistently iterate on training and product design based on feedback

Tech coordination

  • Collaborate with the tech team to ensure that Lynk’s technology provides a satisfying user experience and maximises automation

Successful candidates will have all or most of these qualifications: 

  • 4-5 years of experience in management consulting, operational process management, or other relevant areas;

  • Must have commercial awareness and an understanding of business environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work in disruptive environments and deliver under high pressure and deadlines

  • Be able to problem solve, think strategically and provide innovative but practical solutions

  • Experience working in similar markets and/or on digital e-commerce platforms is a bonus

  • Self-starting mentality and experience in crisis management and mitigation

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
